It’s an Ali-bration!!
Ali and I have been having so much fun, thrifting, crafting, hanging out, crafting and thrifting some more….. busy and fun week!
Monday night we had a little wine and design here and Ali picked the theme. Ali set up a couple of vignettes in the center of the table and we all sat around painting our own interpretations. We also assembled several paint colors, and Emmy was so kind as to line up all the paints.
We had a nice sized group including myself, Ali, Sarah, Brooke, and Lynette.
Here we are hard at work.
Jake hard at work while we painted…
And here are the fruits of our labor… Lynette apparently is an artist, although she denies it. From top left corner clockwise: Brooke, Sarah, me, Lynette, Ali.
I get to keep Ali’s painting, too! I am so excited! I feel a new gallery wall coming….
Speaking of which, we had so much fun at wine and design that we decided to have another afternoon of painting on Tuesday. I won’t tell you whose painting is whose to keep it a little more interesting, but here are the paintings from that afternoon….
Ali and I hit up one of my favorite thrift shops today where you can fill a bag with children’s books for $1.50. Someone must have recently donated some awesome vintage books, because we came home with full bags and immediately got to work crafting book page buntings. I sewed them with my machine and some red double bias tape. I made two….
This one was made from a teeny Little Red Riding Hood book….
This one was made from an awesome Richard Scarry vintage book. I placed it in rainbow order…
Ali was able to pull together the scraps from that bunting, plus the leftover piece of bias tape, and make this adorable miniature little bunting, which might be the cutest thing I have ever seen.
We also created a couple of these (one for her, one for me!) vintage sheet buntings. This collaboration was definitely a joint effort… She did most of the cutting, I did the sewing!
And check out this adorable door hanger she brought me to commemorate this time! I am having so much fun, and I will always have this happy reminder of this week!
Tomorrow, we are heading to another thrift shop hunting for more treasure. I am hoping that she will have too much to ship home, and will just have to stay here and make the guest room her new home. 🙂
