Happy Wednesday! Today I am participating in a holiday tradition blog hop hosted by Rachel of Like a Saturday. if you are hopping over from Live Laugh Rowe, welcome! We all have those special things that we do with our loved ones throughout the season, those things that make Christmas complete. We have a few, but I want to share my favorite with you. We started this tradition in 2009, when Sawyer 4 and Emmy was just about to turn 3. And we will continue this tradition until I’m no longer allowed…
Our tradition is to give the kids matching pajamas on Christmas Eve. Sawyer and Emmy LOVE this tradition as of now; they try to make sure they wear their matching pj’s on nights other than Christmas Eve as well…. they love to match! In fact, as I finish writing this post, they are laying at the foot of the bed, watching “The Santa Clause” and wearing last year’s matching pajamas. I love this tradition because of the closeness it brings my kids, and I also love that each year we will have photos of them in their matching pajamas.
I also love selecting them each year and typically shop in the boys section since they are more likely to be suitable for both sexes. Let’s take a trip through memory lane to see pajamas of the past. (and pardon these non-blog quality photos, but these are ust some of our family snapshots).
In 2009, there were the christmas dog pajamas.
2010 brought them penguins from the North Pole!
Then in 2011, flannel moose (or meese, as I like to call them) were all the rage.
2012 was all about the fleece snowman. I wish they made these in my size- they look so cozy!
Last year, in 2013, we went with polar bears- these might be my favorites so far!
And what’s in store for 2014? Well, our pajamas just arrived in the mail and I can’t wait to give these to the kids! I found these fun and fabulous reindeer pajamas at Target for a steal last week, and even got free shipping! I can’t wait to see Sawyer and Emmy run into the living room on Christmas morning wearing these!
One of their own traditions that they’ve added is to also have a sleepover in Sawyer’s room on Christmas Eve. Two years ago we gave them pottery barn kids cozy sleeping bags- a moose for Sawyer and a polar bear for Emmy. We roll these out on Sawyer’s floor, and they giggle with excitement until they fall asleep for the night.
This photo from 2012 captures it well….
Now be sure to head on over to House by Hoff to see April’s Christmas tradition!
